Zestful Blog Post #131
I’m not telling you to let your kids go hungry. But it’s a
fact that lots of us spend lots of time on fake responsibilities. Do you really
need to answer every email as thoroughly as you do—or at all? Must you vacuum
that often? Do you have to go out for drinks with the gang every time? Must you
be as well informed about the news of the day as the guy who wins all the
arguments around the water cooler? (What’s gonna be on his tombstone—HE BLOVIATED?)
All we gotta do is our best work.

Being that it's NaNoWriMo I do have the opportunity every night to ask myself "do I really need to do this rather than write?". It has been liberating to re-examine my priorities and go a little wild abandoning vacuuming or the dishes for a little while. :)
ReplyDeleteCool, Linda! Keep us posted on your novel.
ReplyDeleteOne gotta-do: check the email. I wouldn't want to miss Ellery Queen telling me they'd like to buy my story. JH
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, James!
